USB Sound Card Solution

I know there are many USB sound card solutions out there but I think I found one that adds an “easy to reach” option for controlling the sound. If I decided on this, the upgraded audio jack to RCA cable will be connected to straight to my AMP.

Ditching the After Market Head Unit

Ok so…I think I am finally breaking down and deciding on replacing my head unit with my PC. I can run cable from the sound card to my AMP. When it comes time for me to upgrade my AMP I would prefer to get one that has a remote to adjust and tune it. I am still researching what AMP to get.

I am going to test this with my EEEPC which I have mounted as my CarPC currently. I will need to get a higher grade Jack to RCA cable adaptor but we shall see how it sounds. If all goes well as could be expected then that will cut more cost from my project (I was going to upgrade my head unit). This will also provide an easy switch over to use my Windows Mobile phone as a backup media player. Since the LCD Monitors have 2 video inputs, one will be the PC and the other will be my Phone if needed (though no interaction unless I use the VNC…we shall see). I use my rearview mirror as my backup camera already so that is covered.

Why I Chose the INTEL D945GCLF2D Mini ITX for My CarPC

I am currently using an EEEPC 2G Surf as my CarPC and wanted to upgrade to something newer while still maintaining a small footprint and affordability. I am a member of the MP3Car forums which is great place for CarPC/Mobile Infotainment enthusiasts.

I learned about the Zotac IONITX A-U through one of the other members and started researching that Motherboard. The things that impressed me about the mainboard was that it featured: Learn more »

CarPC ReMod Project- ’05 Altima Center Console Storage Bin

I have an ongoing project developing a mobile computing solution in my 2005 Altima. This project was originally an EEEPC 2G Surf Install which I have mounted under the front passenger seat. I have since decided to redesign or modify my project.

My plans are to dismantle my center console in my Altima and modify the storage bin (which is wasted space) as a ‘PC Tower’.

My Hexxamillion.com domain has gone GREEN! My webhosting service is now 100% powered by wind energy. Isn’t that just ironic considering my last 2 posts. Everyone is jumping on the green bandwagon and becoming more environmentally conscience. Learn more about my green website at http://www.startlogic.com/green/index.bml.

Old Pentium II 333MHz Repurpose Completed

So if you read my previous post I was gutting my old HP Pavillion Pentium II Tower. Yes it’s an old box from 1998. In the spirit of being “green” I decided to recycle this machine by repurposing rather than throwing it away. So I finally decided how to use it.

I dusted everything out and reinstalled the motherboard, PSU and memory. I also had to take an old but more recent Ethernet card from another PC and install it because in 1998…dial up was the thing. I installed a 60GB HDD with Ubuntu 9.04 as the operating system.
